Hi, I’m Tim Greig
I write, teach, educate, coach and mentor on how to live a calm, purposeful and heart-centred life. Want a quick snapshot? Here’s what I’ve been up to in the last 30 days.
I have had an oddly satisfying life.
I say that because I have suffered no major traumas, I wasn’t 100 kgs overweight and I’ve never been bankrupt and living on tuna.
And it feels strange to say, “not that there’s anything wrong with that”.
I have however experienced long times of being completely lost in life. Pondering why I am here and only getting closer to the truth when I started moving again.
I did go through separation and divorce some time back but my ex-wife and I handled that well to our credit (I’m just repeating what our friends said) and our three children have grown up strong and well-adjusted.
I was a vegetarian for 25 years with an equal bias of doing it for health and moral reasons.
And then, one day, I took up eating meat again.
Occasionally, I feel a twinge of regret about that.
Then and now I am not tied to a particular diet and I never got on that particular hobby horse. I make my own mind up when it comes to nourishment and my philosophy around that (since you so kindly asked) is to eat and drink what actually works for me.
Your body will tell you.
I love learning – about everything: how water gets to the top of a 30 meter mountain ash, how horses can sleep standing up, and for most of my life, how we work.
I see life as an experiment.
I think the only way to find out who you are is to do: thinking, talking and being a seeker won’t work.
You can only boil an egg for so long; after, eat the egg.
My current love (apart from my wife) is painting and art in general. I find it meditative, while full of continual challenges and – at this stage – occasional successes. There is just something about pushing material around with a brush, a pallete knife… or your hands. Oh, and it’s messy.
What more could a person want?
I struggle sometimes with conforming. I’m not big on following rules unless they’re mine.
I hold health and fitness to be important and encourage people I work with to see it that way too. Sometimes you can focus on other things for a while but if you’re sick or dead, what’s the point? You’re no good to anyone – let alone yourself.
My other strong value is integrity. I do what I say I will do, in all areas of life. I’m not sure if that’s more important to me or to others but either way, we all win.
At the risk of talking about me – well, that’s what this whole page is about – at various times I have become qualified as a Personal Trainer, Kettlebell Instructor, Movnat Instructor, Neuro-Linguistic Practitioner, Life Coach, Business Coach: There seems to be a theme running through there…
I’m currently completing a Diploma in Ontological Coaching – Ontology being “An inquiry around the question of “What is it to be a human being?”.
That should tell you a lot about me…
